| ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The Canadian Institute of Management is the only organization in Canada empowered to grant a designation recognizing General Management skills and expertise.
Founded in 1942, to address a serious lack of formal management training, this organization has consistently pushed itself and its members to keep up to date; to anticipate trends and to focus on the future. Over the last few years, the Institute has gone through extensive re-evaluations of who it is and what it does. The Institute today remains firmly focused on continuous improvement that will promote excellence and leadership in management.
The Canadian Institute of Management is a Federally Chartered Not-for-Profit volunteer driven organization with branches across Canada. Each branch is governed by a locally elected board of directors who in turn elect a national board of directors. The national directors are responsible for establishment of policies and procedures that benefit the organization as a whole. Local boards focus on the delivery of services directly to local membership. All activities reflect the values and beliefs expressed in the institutes Vision and Mission Statements.
